Torrington Savings Bank’s charitable foundation has awarded more than $67,000 in grants during its most recent grant cycle.

The Torrington Savings Foundation said in a statement it had awarded $67,748 in grants to support investments in community revitalization through neighborhood renewal and education initiatives.

Grant recipients included the Northwestern Connecticut YMCA, which this year is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its Torrington location on Prospect Street. The location lacks an outdoor athletic field to support for their youth program, the statement said, and the grant will fund the rehabilitation of recreational space on Railroad Square. Additional funding will go toward the expansion of the Youth Service Bureau’s Rising Start Camp facility.

Other grant recipients included the American Mural Project, Equus Effect and the United Way of West Central Connecticut.

“These grants illustrate our continued commitment to improving the lives of those living in our communities,” Lesa Vanotti, president and CEO of Torrington Savings Bank, said in the statement. “We are proud to play an instrumental role in the success of the worthwhile projects supported in the most recent funding round.”
