New London Apartments Set to Begin Pre-Leasing

A new 203-unit apartment complex in New London’s Fort Trumbull neighborhood is set to begin pre-leasing this winter as construction crews marked a milestone in construction at a recent topping-off ceremony.

New Haven-based RJ Development + Advisors is developing The Beam complex at 221 Howard St.

Designed by New Haven-based Svigals + Partners, the 178,000-square-foot wood-framed building will include apartments ranging from studios to two-bedroom units. Resident amenities will include a club room, fitness center, work-from-home business center, outdoor grilling area and roof deck with Thames River views.

Massachusetts-based Callahan Construction Managers broke ground on the project in September 2021.
