Matt McSpedon, a commercial banking executive with JPMorgan Chase, was elected last week as the new board chair for the Connecticut Business & Industry Association, the state’s largest business organization.
McSpedon works with Connecticut and Mid-Hudson companies through JPMorgan Chase’s middle market banking and specialized industries business, the CBIA said in a statement.
“I look forward to working with CBIA’s outstanding board of directors and staff as we advance policy solutions that will transform Connecticut for the long term,” McSpedon said in the statement. “By lowering the costs of living and running a business, implementing pathways to rewarding careers, and leveraging the state’s many strengths, we can open doors to opportunity for all communities and residents.”
McSpedon succeeded previous CBIA board chair Rina Patel, vice president of operations multi-site with RSCC Wire & Cable in East Granby. Patel remains on the board as immediate past chair.
“We are very fortunate that Rina was such an engaged chair, always pushing our organization to new heights as we addressed the state’s post-pandemic challenges,” CBIA president and CEO Chris DiPentima said in the statement. “Matt McSpedon’s broad knowledge and experience will be critical as we continue developing solutions to address the labor shortage, grow our economy, and create opportunities for all residents.”
The CBIA also recently appointed Matt Hummel, KeyBank’s senior vice president, market president, and commercial banking leader, to fill a vacant position on the board. Also filling vacant positions are Shawn Coyne, vice president of human resources at General Dynamics Electric Boat, and Aida Habtezion, chief medical officer and head of worldwide medical and safety at Pfizer Inc.
The board also elected two vice chairs: Kevin Grigg, president of Manchester-based a civil and environmental engineering firm Fuss & O’Neill, and Marietta Lee, chief operating officer, general counsel and corporate secretary with The Lee Company in Westbrook.
