The joint venture team behind a 477-unit proposal for the site of a former movie theater in East Hartford wants to scale back its commitments to the city.
The Hartford Business Journal reports that developers Brian Zelman and Avner Krohn are seeking city permission to build as few as 300 units on the Showcase Cinemas site in East Hartford.
The site is owned by the city, which has agreed to sell the site to the duo for $1 if they build at least 360 units on the site. The development team has received permits for 477 units.
Zelman and Krohn cite struggles created by interest rate increases and the threat of a recession, and say they intend to build “more than 400 units simultaneously.”
