Essex Savings Bank has named Debra L. Brown as its next chief financial officer.
Brown has worked at Essex Savings Bank for 28 years. She replaces the bank’s current chief financial officer, Shawn Honan, who is retiring, the bank said in a statement.
“Deb has held a key position in the accounting department as the Assistant Treasurer/Controller for 23 years, and is well positioned to seamlessly step into the role of Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer,” Diane Arnold, Essex Savings Bank’s president and CEO, said in the statement.
Brown, who was also promoted to senior vice president, joined Essex Savings Bank as the accounting department supervisor in March 1995. She became a bank officer in 1999, was promoted to controller in 2000, become an assistant vice president soon after, and was promoted to vice president and controller in 2005, according to the statement.
Brown has been a team leader for the nonprofit organization Angel Ride Inc. since 2009 and was on its board as treasurer from 2010-2019. She received the Community Foundation of Middlesex County Unsung Hero award in 2018.
Essex Savings Bank has $528 million in assets and six offices in Essex, Chester, Madison, Old Lyme and Old Saybrook.
