The former WFSB-TV Broadcast House property in Hartford’s Constitution Plaza is up for sale following a series of failed attempts to redevelop the property in recent years.
CBRE’s Hartford office is marketing the 3 Constitution Plaza property, which housed the Hartford TV station’s studios for more than 40 years, as a “shovel-ready” high-visibility development site, potentially for a housing project. The property is one of the first landmarks greeting visitors to the capital city arriving in the downtown via Route 2.
“We believe that current multifamily development momentum combined with new retail offerings and a greater return to the office in 2024 will generate significant interest from both developers and end users,” CBRE Executive Vice President John McCormick said in a statement.
The property has flexible zoning under Hartford’s DT-1 district, along with nearby highway access.
The former TV station headquarters was demolished after WFSB-TV, the local CBS affiliate, moved to Rocky Hill in 2006.
