Rocky Hill officials gave final approval to a 96-unit apartment complex by a New York developer that manufactures its own building components at a Pennsylvania factory.
Vessel Technologies plans to begin fabrication work in September at the 125 Henkel Way site, with a projected completion date of late 2024. The Rocky Hill Planning & Zoning Commission approved the project at its meeting last week.
The company says its ability to manufacture building components off-site reduces construction timelines and project costs.
“Connecticut, like most U.S. states, is suffering from a housing crisis of unprecedented proportions. There’s only one answer, and that’s new, high-quality supply,” Vessel Technologies CEO Neil Rubler said in a statement.
Vessel Technologies is nearing the completion of its first Connecticut project in New London, a 30-unit apartment building at 174 Bank St.
In May, the company received approval for a 70-unit apartment building at 146 Realty Drive in Cheshire.
And June, the firm received a series A investment from Mastry Ventures and LENx, Lennar Communities’ venture arm.
