Connecticut’s newest corporate headquarters has officially opened its doors: Subway’s new home in Shelton.
The 90,000-square-foot office opened at 1 Corporate Drive, in the city’s business district, and will be one of two headquarters for the fast-food company.
It’s designed to enhance the employee experience and advance the brand’s multi-year transformation journey to improve across all aspects of its business, the company said, with an open floor plan and a variety of conference, huddle and multipurpose rooms.
One of the biggest features, called The Lounge, offers an “energizing space” for employees to meet, dine and socialize, Subway said. Other amenities include multiple dining options, fitness centers, complimentary recreational activities, healthcare providers, beauty salon and spas and childcare centers in the larger Enterprise Corporate Park, owned by R.D. Scintos.
“Connecticut has been at the heart of Subway’s story for nearly 60 years,” Subway CEO John Chidsey said in a statement. “The strategic relocation of our global dual-headquarters to Shelton will provide employees with a world-class workplace and unlock access to services to help enhance their wellbeing. In addition, it will serve as a showcase of our brand and a welcoming place for guests to visit.”
The company is moving its operations from its longtime home in Milford, 10 miles away.
“Our new Shelton headquarters is an important step in modernizing the Subway brand and underscores our dedication to establishing an optimal workplace for innovation, collaboration and work-life balance,” Bill Ekstrom, director of business services for Subway, said in a statement.
Last year, Subway opened its other “dual headquarters” in Miami, which is home to the brand’s consumer-facing functions, as well as Latin America regional office staff.
