Thomaston Savings Bank recently formed an equal access outreach committee for the Latino community, which it calls AHEAD or the Alliance for Hispanic Education Advancement and Development.
The bank said on Friday that it aims to connect deeper and better understand the Latino community to serve their banking needs better.
AHEAD is made up of the bank’s employees from different backgrounds and communities, and will do outreach to the bridge the bank and the diverse Latino population in the towns it serves. The mutual bank currently has 15 branches in towns west of Hartford, such as Thomaston, Bristol, Torrington, Watertown and Waterbury.
Through the committee, the bank said it aims to engage, promote financial literacy, and ensure that the needs of the Latino community are heard, understood, and met.
“I’m fortunate to be a part of a bank that embraces diversity and inclusivity. Being chairman of A.H.E.A.D. gives me the opportunity to spearhead a committee focused on the education, advancement, and development of deserving, diverse cultures within our community,” Tony Sanchez, AVP, secondary market and loan processing manager, and AHEAD Chairman at Thomaston Savings Bank, said in a statement.
