Federal prosecutors say one of the two people behind a hold-up at what was then a People’s United Bank branch in West Hartford has been sentenced to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
According to the Connecticut U.S. attorney’s office, Middletown resident Jalania Pantano, 28, and her boyfriend entered the bank branch in a Stop & Shop store on Newington Road just over the town line from Hartford on July 30, 2022, and passed notes to the tellers demanding “the money with no dye packs or GPS.” Tellers passed the duo $1,5999 in cash and they left.
Prosecutors claim Pantano’s boyfriend had earlier robbed two similar People’s United grocery store branches in Glastonbury and Newington earlier that summer.
Pantano pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery in August.
