New Haven’s Westville neighborhood will be gaining a new sports center – for pickleball.

The popular sport is akin to tennis, but played with large paddles, and has become a nationwide sensation in the last 10 years.

City Plan Commission members approved the project Wednesday, according to the New Haven Independent. The project already received zoning approval.

The pickleball club will rise two stories, and will contain three indoor courts, a cafe and pro shop, with a small adjoining parking lot. The project is being put forward by local company, Pickleville CT LLC.
