A shopping plaza in Greater Hartford featuring an Aldi grocery store and a Kohl’s store has traded hands.

An LLC registered to a California residential address and controlled by a Rockford, Illinois real estate investment company sold 1899 Silas Dean Highway in Rocky Hill for $12.6 million, a substantial discount from the $18 million it paid for the real estate in 2009.

The buyer was an LLC also registered to a residential address, this time in Deal New Jersey.

Rocky Hill town property records appraised the property, branded as Horizon Commons, at $17.97 million. The Aldi store building was built in 2008, while the Kohl’s structure was put up in 2004. Silas Dean Highway features a number of nearby retail developments.

According to brokerage retail lease marketing materials, the site also contains four unbuilt development pads totaling 52,825 square feet, including a 6,000-square-foot retail or restaurant pad able to host a drive-through.
