Open Solutions Inc., Glastonbury

Cliff Waggoner, co-founder and chief architect of Glastonbury-based Open Solutions Inc., died Friday, May 11, after a battle with cancer at the age of 66.

He co-founded Open Solutions in a basement in 1992 with the idea of bringing relationship-based technology to the financial services industry. His background included more than 30 years of information system and design experience that covered a wide range of technology and application-development areas.

Waggoner’s career included a decade in the U.S. Navy; 17 years with Plano, Texas-based EDS as a technology architect and in system development; and five years as a principal with Westfield, Ind.-based Linc Systems in the areas of systems consulting and development.

Open Solutions has more than 5,200 clients who use one or more of the company’s products or services, and employs more than 1,900 employees throughout the United States, Canada and abroad. The company provides enterprise relational core data processing, Internet banking, cash management, financial accounting, interactive voice response, Check 21, electronic image and item processing, payments and loan origination solutions for banks, credit unions and other financial services providers throughout the world.

CMBA Hosting Seminar

The Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association’s Production/Secondary Marketing Committee will present a half-day seminar called “What’s the Score?” on Wednesday, June 13.

The seminar is designed for originators, processors and underwriters who want to better understand credit scoring. Christine McGrath of CBCInnovis will be the presenter.

The event will be held at Travis Mortgage, 628 Hebron Ave., Building Two, Suite 214, Glastonbury. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the seminar will run from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost of the seminar is $45 for CMBA members, $40 for Social Affairs Committee members and $75 for non-members.

Salecky Wins Award

Susan W. Salecky, vice president and director of client services for Bankers’ Bank Northeast in Glastonbury, has won the Shining Star Award, presented annually by the Independent Community Bankers of America and Independent Banker magazine.

Salecky joined the bank in 1998. She is responsible for ensuring that the products and services that the bank offers are meeting the needs of its clients. Salecky also provides support to the bank’s sales staff, including the preparation of cost-benefit analysis spreadsheets for new service proposals, contract and account document administration, and client billing.

Bankers’ Bank Northeast, a wholesale correspondent bank based in Glastonbury, provides services to more than 160 community banks throughout New England and New York State. It is a state-chartered institution that is Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.-insured and a member of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston.
