David GrossmanRegional Director at Windsor-based Vantis Life Insurance Co. David Grossman has been inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport.

From 1976 to 2011, David Grossman officiated CIAC High School Championship games, 11 State High School Finals, five AAU National Championship games and, in 1995, the Special Olympics’ World Games, which were hosted in New Haven.

In 2005, the New Haven Tap-Off Club selected Grossmans as its Official of the Year. In 2011, he was selected to receive the CIAC Girls’ Basketball Committee Merit Award and, in 2014, the Connecticut AAU Girls’ Basketball "Good Call" Award. He is now retired from officiating.

The Hall of Fame, located in the Brenda Reilly Gallery at Central Connecticut State University, honors those who have contributed to the enhancement of women’s basketball in Connecticut – either through participation, service, support or achievement.

"I was delighted to be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and to be recognized for a pursuit about which I was passionate," Grossman said in a statement. "Just like in my day job at Vantis, with officiating, there is no short road to success. If one is determined to succeed – in the insurance industry, as an athletic referee or in any other field – one must be willing to start at the bottom of the ladder, then gain the necessary experience through study, observation and hard work. Set your goals early, work toward them, and, when opportunities present themselves, be ready."
