The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority (MTGA), operator of Mohegan Sun properties, in conjunction with KCC Corp. and Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC), recently received a license from the Korean government to construct an integrated resort at Incheon International Airport in South Korea.

Phase I of the multiphase project, named Project Inspire, is estimated to cost $1.6 billion, with a commitment total of $5 billion over multiple phases.

The project aims to include a three-tower luxury hotel complex containing 1,350 rooms. The resort will contain retail space; a Korean cosmetics and beauty hub; an entertainment arena; Paramount Studios-themed indoor-outdoor amusement park; eco-adventure park with indoor rock climbing, zip lining, an indoor rainforest and archeology experience; casino; and private air terminal.

“We are pleased with the Korean government’s decision to award us the opportunity to help fulfill their vision of driving economic development by growing tourism, creating jobs and showcasing Korean culture via the integrated resort,” Bobby Soper, MGTA president, said in a statement.

“We deeply appreciate the careful review that the Korean government has conducted on this bold new initiative for tourism in Korea. Its selection of the Inspire project at IBC-II is wonderful news for the Incheon region and will serve as a catalyst for growth in the airport development zone for years to come,” IIAC CEO Chung Il-young said in a statement.
