A Moodus children’s campground announced that it won’t open this summer for campers due to financial difficulties and is considering renting out the property.

Middlesex County Camp’s board of directors said financial difficulties prompted it to suspend camping operations this year. It is seeking to raise funds for capital improvements and seeking to form partnerships and attract donations.

Founded in 1962, the camp has served children ages 7 to 17.

The organization said it’s accepting applications to rent out the facilities. Interested parties can submit a request by visiting its website.
