A disused but historic fire station in downtown Hartford could be reborn as a mixed-use apartment and restaurant project.
The Hartford Business Journal and the Hartford Courant have separately reported that New York City-based Wonder Works Construction is in final talks with the city to built 40 apartments in the 3-story Pearl Street fire station building and add a 4,000-square-foot restaurant space on the ground floor with outdoor dining and live entertainment space. The site is just steps from Bushnell Park.
The company expects to finance the project in part with support from historic preservation credits and the Capital Region Development Authority.
Wonder Works is no stranger to Hartford, having built around 560 units in the three Spectra developments, all completed between 2019 and 2020.
