Conn. Banks\’ Profitability Up In Q2

As a pack, Connecticut banks saw a spike in profitability for the second quarter 2011 compared to the same period last year, with some help from stronger net interest income and lower provisions for loan losses. But banks have also seen increasing non-interest expenses, including a rise in employee headcount, according to the latest data from the FDIC.

Mass. Man Sentenced For Conn. Bank Burglaries

A man from Lawrence, Mass. has been sentenced to 30 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for his involvement in two Connecticut bank burglaries in 2009, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut’s office.
