A set of derelict buildings on the north end of downtown Bridgeport are coming down to make way for more green space.

The city plans to spend $1 million taking down the buildings across the street from the city post office and the soon-to-finish 1188 Lofts mixed-use development, the Connecticut Post reports.

Norwalk’s Spinnaker Partners had originally planned to restore and redevelop the buildings in 2015, but the project never materialized.
