A Fairfield Italian restaurant and wine bar is among four new tenants that have committed to relocating to the 110,000-square-foot Darien Commons retail property being redeveloped by Federal Realty Investment Trust.

Molto will open a 1950-era Roman cafe including a 40-foot marble bar in fall 2022, Federal Realty announced. Membership-based nail studio Glosslab, coffee and pastry shop Gregory’s and ice cream parlor Van Leeuwen’s first Connecticut location.

Maryland-based retail REIT Federal Realty demolished the former Stop & Shop Supermarket and Walgreens anchor spaces in early 2020 to begin the redevelopment, which includes 122 apartments scheduled for completion in 2022. Federal Realty will begin preleasing for the apartments in January.

Walgreens recently reopened a new 12,000-square-foot drug store and pharmacy at the 102 Heights Road property, which will include another 63,000 square feet of retail, with additional tenants to be announced in coming months.

The project was designed by Beinfield Architecture of Norwalk and A.P. Construction Company of Stamford is the general contractor.
