Boutique Hotel Sought for New Haven Train Station Revamp

Plans to reboot New Haven’s train station could go beyond refreshing its retail presence to include a boutique hotel.

The New Haven Independent reports a city consultant is pushing a “micro-hotel” for the station’s top four floors, which currently house offices. The city says several potential developers have already toured the space.

The city sees the station as a “welcome mat” for the city. In addition, the area between the rail hub – which serves commuters taking MetroNorth trains towards New York, Shoreline East trains to New London, Hartford Line trains to Hartford and Springfield and high-speed Amtrak trains between Boston and New York – and downtown is seeing significant commercial redevelopment and infrastructure investment from the city.

Greenwich is also planning a $45 million revamp of its own MetroNorth train station.
