Not quite two years after it was first pitched to New Haven’s City Plan Commission, a 44-unit apartment building just outside downtown New Haven opened its doors to the public.
Developer Nick Falker was joined by New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker and several city economic development officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.
The Elm, as the all-market-rate building has been dubbed, replaced a parking lot at 104 Howe St. The 6-story structure includes amenities like an in-building gym, coworking space, a roof deck with skyline views, 20 bike parking spots and 22 car parking spots. The building is a short walk from Yale and New Haven’s office district, and a 10-minute bicycle ride from New Haven’s Metro-North train station.
Central air conditioning is provided via electrically-powered heat pumps – a climate-friendly touch – and in-unit laundry is also provided. The units are split between studios, one-, two- and four-bedroom rentals, and rents reportedly range from $1,595 to $4,995 per month.
New Haven-based Farnam Realty Group is managing leasing.
